The Prime Minister, repeatedly told a press conference today that a £910 million contribution from the main energy suppliers would not be passed on to customers.
However, comments, from David Porter the chief executive of the Association of Electricity Producers, will come as an embarrassment to Gordon Brown. Who said: it was a straightforward question of economics that the costs of the Government package would be passed on to customers.
He added: "They will try [E.ON, Centrica and EDF] to contain this because they have to, but it remains to be seen just how much of it ends up on the customers’ bill in the longer run."
