The young pretender David Miliband, who is seen as a potential challenger to the Prime Minister, paid tribute to Gordon Brown in his conference speech today.

Addressing Labour delegates, Miliband, who has denied any plans to challenge Brown, said the party must "defeat fatalism" and "replace it with hope".
