"is there no hope of victory"

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves".

Winston Churchill.

A note from one in the 'colonies'. I grew up during WW2, now 67, and remember Roosevelt and Churchill. A child of the time, I remember now what you stated as we as free nations faced a prepared enemy in the Axis nations that tried in vain to occupy England and even the US. We, the US, helped with ships and cargo and war material, before Dec. 7th, 1941, when Japan 'woke the sleeping tiger'. We, the US, were not armed, had a very small standing army as we at the time felt no threat, seeking isolaton in many eyes back then. But the world was getting smaller and smaller and soon the Crown and our GI's were taking the war to Hitler and Tojo and Mussolini. They soon found us, fighting together, not seeking anyone's permission or approval, to fight for the rights and safety of our much loved countries. I enjoyed your writing this morning. Just a small note to let your know someone is reading your blog. Jeff, authorizeddealer.blogspot.com.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...
