Pakistan must help break al-Qaeda, warns Brown

Gordon Brown has told the climategate denying BBC that Pakistan must do more to "break" al-Qaeda and find Osama Bin Laden.

Eight years after the 2001 attacks on the US, nobody had been able "to spot or detain or get close to" the al-Qaeda leader, the prime minister said.

He told the BBC: "We've got to ask ourselves why, eight years after September the 11th, nobody has been able to spot or detain or get close to Osama bin Laden,

After 8 days, nobody's been able to get close to Phil Jones either.

I'm a climate change scientist, get me an Elephant.

Elephant training terminology and description of specific behaviours are outlined in the EU School Course Principles of Elephant Management (PEM). Trained behaviours should allow the elephant staff access to the animal in order to accomplish all necessary animal care and management procedures and permit institutional consistency. The PEM recommended list of commands and their corresponding behaviours are ones that every elephant and elephant handler must know so that basic husbandry and veterinary practices can be accomplished.

Senate Committee Launches "Climategate" Investigation

Sen. James M. Inhofe a Senior Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, has sent letters to several scientists, some of whom allegedly manipulated data to prove the scientific "consensus" of global warming, as well as to the inspectors general of several federal agencies, notifying them to retain documents related to the release of emails from the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit.

"The stakes in this controversy are significant, as it appears that the basis of federal programs, pending EPA rulemakings, and cap-and-trade legislation was contrived and fabricated," Sen. Inhofe said. "Moreover, it appears that, in an attempt to conceal the manipulation of climate data, information disclosure laws may have been violated.

"I certainly don't condone the manner in which these emails were released; however, now that they are in the public domain, lawmakers have an obligation to determine the extent to which the so-called ‘consensus' of global warming, formed with billions of taxpayer dollars, was contrived in the biased minds of the world's leading climate scientists."

Copenhagen

The Global Warming scare has always been a scheme by which unprincipled scientists have been able to scam major research funding from governments and institutions, and thus stay employed.

They have been aided and abetted by left-wing politicians, the European Union and journalists who knew that supporting the Global Warming doomsday theory was a way to look caring and politically correct while advancing the only potent anti-capitalist agenda left after the fall of Communism.

Scientists who push findings supporting a man-made global warming get their grants and stay gainfully employed, while giving their benefactors, left-wing lawmakers the European Union and big media, the alleged "scientific" basis for stories and laws that bash capitalism. And just as during the Cold War, we have misinformed fellow travellers, including the Conservatives, who repeat the climate change mantra on cue for the microphones.

Well, hey. the scientists manipulated the data in order to make the case that human activities were causing global warming.

Here are all the emails, in searchable form. Enjoy!

Global Warming Scam Exposed

The Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia has been hacked and there is a massive file of emails and code up on a server in Russia. BBC

Some of the excerpts of emails within the archives (edited for brevity, emphasis added):

From Michael E. Mann:

Dear Phil and Gabi,
I’ve attached a cleaned-up and commented version of the matlab code that I wrote for doing the Mann and Jones (2003) composites. I did this knowing that Phil and I are likely to have to respond to more crap criticisms from the idiots in the near future, so best to clean up the code and provide to some of my close colleagues in case they want to test it, etc. Please feel free to use this code for your own internal purposes, but don’t pass it along where it may get into the hands of the wrong people.

From Nick McKay:

The Korttajarvi record was oriented in the reconstruction in the way that McIntyre said. I took a look at the original reference – the temperature proxy we looked at is x-ray density, which the author interprets to be inversely related to temperature. We had higher values as warmer in the reconstruction, so it looks to me like we got it wrong, unless we decided to reinterpret the record which I don’t remember. Darrell, does this sound right to you?

From Tom Wigley:

We probably need to say more about this. Land warming since 1980 has been twice the ocean warming — and skeptics might claim that this proves that urban warming is real and important.

From Phil Jones:

I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.

From Kevin Trenberth:

The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.

From Michael Mann:

Perhaps we'll do a simple update to the Yamal post, e.g. linking Keith/s new page--Gavin t? As to the issues of robustness, particularly w.r.t. inclusion of the Yamal series, we actually emphasized that (including the Osborn and Briffa '06 sensitivity test) in our original post! As we all know, this isn't about truth at all, its about plausibly deniable accusations.

From Phil Jones:

The skeptics seem to be building up a head of steam here! ... The IPCC comes in for a lot of stick. Leave it to you to delete as appropriate! Cheers Phil
PS I’m getting hassled by a couple of people to release the CRU station temperature data. Don’t any of you three tell anybody that the UK has a Freedom of Information Act !

From Michael E. Mann:

Anyway, I wanted you guys to know that you’re free to use RC [RealClimate.org - A supposed neutral climate change website] Rein any way you think would be helpful. Gavin and I are going to be careful about what comments we screen through, and we’ll be very careful to answer any questions that come up to any extent we can. On the other hand, you might want to visit the thread and post replies yourself. We can hold comments up in the queue and contact you about whether or not you think they should be screened through or not, and if so, any comments you’d like us to include.

From Phil Jones:

If FOIA does ever get used by anyone, there is also IPR to consider as well. Data is covered by all the agreements we sign with people, so I will be hiding behind them.

Lord Mandelson's (information principles)

1. The Minister for Information must have access to intelligence concerning events and public opinion.

2. Information must be planned and executed by only one authority.
a. It must issue all the information directives.
b. It must explain information directives to important officials and maintain their morale.
c. It must oversee other agencies' activities, which have information consequences

3. The information consequences of an action must be considered in planning that action.

4. Information must affect the opposition's policy and action.
a. By suppressing desirable material which can provide the opposition with useful intelligence
b. By openly disseminating information whose content or tone causes the opposition to draw the desired conclusions
c. By goading the opposition into revealing vital information about himself
d. By making no reference to a desired opposition activity when any reference would discredit that activity

5. Declassified, operational information must be available to implement an information campaign

6. To be perceived, information must evoke the interest of an audience and must be transmitted through an attention-getting communications medium.

7. Credibility alone must determine whether information output should be true or false.

8. The purpose, content and effectiveness of opposition information; the strength and effects of an expose; and the nature of current information campaigns determine whether opposition information should be ignored or refuted.

9. Credibility, intelligence, and the possible effects of communicating determine whether information materials should be censored.

10. Material from opposition information may be utilized in operations when it helps diminish that opposition's prestige or lends support to the propagandist's own objective.

11. Black rather than white information may be employed when the latter is less credible or produces undesirable effects.

12. Information may be facilitated by leaders with prestige.

13. Information must be carefully timed.
a. The communication must reach the audience ahead of competing information.
b. An information campaign must begin at the optimum moment
c. An information theme must be repeated, but not beyond some point of diminishing effectiveness

14. Information must label events and people with distinctive phrases or slogans.
a. They must evoke desired responses, which the audience previously possesses
b. They must be capable of being easily learned
c. They must be utilized again and again, but only in appropriate situations
d. They must be boomerang-proof

15. Information to the home front must prevent the raising of false hopes which can be blasted by future events.

16. Information to the home front must create an optimum anxiety level.
a. Information must reinforce anxiety concerning the consequences of defeat
b. Information must diminish anxiety (other than concerning the consequences of defeat) which is too high and which cannot be reduced by people themselves

17. Information to the home front must diminish the impact of frustration.
a. Inevitable frustrations must be anticipated
b. Inevitable frustrations must be placed in perspective

18. Information must facilitate the displacement of aggression by specifying the targets for hatred.

19. Information cannot immediately affect strong counter-tendencies; instead it must offer some form of action or diversion, or both.

Groundhog Day 15

Yesterday the European Court of Auditors published their annual report on the EU's budget -- and in what becoming a European Union tradition, they have refused to sign off on the accounts. This makes 15 years in a row the EU's own accountants have reckoned there was too many holes in the books to allow them to sign and clear the accounts.

It doesn't mater how fast you chase the European Union Commission, you never catch up with the money.

This can only be expressed as EU = mc15.

Where EU is the immovable object, mc = mass corruption and 15 is the number of years that the auditors have been unable to sign off the European Union accounts.

The Fraud Act 2006 introduces several general offences of fraud which may be committed by a person or persons who:

makes a false representation
fails to disclose information when he is under a legal duty to do so;
abuses a position of trust

The European Union and the EU Commission draws upon its LEGAL BASIS on budgetary maters from Article 268 to 280 of the EC Treaty. As the European Union has not performed or been in legal compliance for 15 years we should now withdraw from the European Union using the provision of Article 61 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties

Article 61 Supervening impossibility of performance

A party may invoke the impossibility of performing a treaty as a ground for terminating or withdrawing from it if the impossibility results from the permanent disappearance or destruction of an object indispensable for the execution of the treaty. If the impossibility is temporary, it may be invoked only as a ground for suspending the operation of the treaty.

15 years of non compliance feels fairly permanent to me.

Well Mr Cameron, how are you going to get around the catch all Article 48 of Lisbon treaty which makes the EU treaties self-amending. The result being that this is the last Treaty the European Union need, from now on the EU can change itself without consulting us.

The Retreat from Brussels

Tony Blair is expected to bow out of the battle to become the EU's first permanent president by the end of next week if he fails in a last-ditch effort to win public support from the German chancellor.

Despite Gordon Brown's failure to win any substantial backing for him during informal discussions at a Brussels summit last week. Allies of the former prime minister insisted last night that his bid for the top EU job was still alive and that there remained a "decent chance" of success.
