Woe, Woe and Thrice Woe
After the drubbing at the Henley by-election on Thursday and Wendy Alexander's resignation on Saturday, Gordon Brown now faces a troubled summer struggling to retain authority in his own heartland after it was rumoured that David Marshall and his 13,500 majority in a rock-solid Glasgow East constituency is to resign because of allegedly ill health. It is unlikely that Labour will lose its deposit in Glasgow as it did in Henley. And it's highly unlikely that they can lose a 13,500 majority. But having watched the Liberal Democrats win in East Fife two years ago and overturn a majority 11,500, only one thing is certain inside the Bunker that is 10 Downing Street at the moment - the summer recess can't come a moment too soon.
