TUC X Factor Auditions

Peter Hain is expected to confirm he wants to become deputy leader of the Labour Party. It is thought Hain will set out his intentions at a fringe meeting at the TUC conference in Brighton this week

He is expected to face competition from several other senior ministers also vying for the job. Alan Johnson, Jack Straw, Harriet Harman and leftwing challenger John McDonnell
