David Cameron has been accused of weakening Britain’s negotiating position by ruling out ever campaigning for withdrawal from the European Union.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph published yesterday, Mr Cameron was asked if he could ever envisage campaigning as Prime Minister for Britain to leave the EU.
He replied: “I don’t think we should leave the EU. But I think we should be, over time, seeking a new settlement and receiving a new mandate for that settlement.” Leaving, he said, “would be bad for Britain”.

Is it not time to restore the clause that was originally in section III of the Act of Settlement 1700.
(An Act for the further Limitation of the Crown and better securing the Rights and Liberties of the Subject)
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/aep/Will3/12-13/2/introduction
"That no person who has an office or place of profit under the King, or receives a pension from the Crown, shall be capable of serving as a member of the House of Commons"
That would mean that any serving MP who becomes a minister of the Crown must resign his/her seat and a by-election held. This would enforce a real separation of government from Legislature.
This provision is often used as an escape device by MPs wishing to quit Parliament, by applying for office of profit, e.g.Crown Steward and Bailiff of the Manor of Northstead or of the Chiltern Hundreds

"Whenever Parliament is persuaded to assume the offices of executive
government, it will lose all the confidence, love and veneration which it has
ever enjoyed whilst it was supposed to be the corrective and control on the
acting powers of the state. This would be the event though its conduct in such a
perversion of its functions would be tolerable, just and moderate; but if it
should be iniquitous, violent, full of passion and full of faction it would be
considered as the most intolerable of all modes of tyranny". - Edmund
Burke.

"The great instrument of all these changes and what infuses a
peculiar venom into all of them is party. It is of no consequence what the principles of any party or what their pretensions are; the spirit which actuates all parties is the same, the spirit of ambition, of self interest, of oppression and of treachery.... in a word we have all seen ...we have some of us felt such oppression from the PARTY GOVERNMENT as no other tyranny can parallel".
-
Edmund Burke 18th Cent Parl. MP for Malton, N. Yorks.

The aim is to provide a focus for a popular movement, generating six important reforms which will help us on the way to becoming a democracy.

After a recalculation of security needs, London will now be protected by 17,000 military personnel during the Olympic Games.
That means the military presence for the Olympic games is bigger than our current troop deployment in Afghanistan, where there are about 9,500 British troops.
Hosting the Olympic games seems to be a bigger threat to our security than the Taliban being democratically elected in Afghanistan.

FFS, when will they ever learn. We cannot renegotiate the Lisbon Treaty (there are no provisions within it to do so.
We can only withdraw and then, if the British voters wish we can re-enter under new terms. (see Vienna Convention on the Laws of Treaties (the UK is signatory))
We can only withdraw from EU using Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.
Any other argument is deception and no form of weasel words can change that.

“As we get closer to the end point we will need to consider how best to get the full-hearted support of the British people, whether it is in a general election or a referendum. As I have said, for me the two words 'Europe’ and 'referendum’ can go together, particularly if we really are proposing a change in how our country is governed, but let us get the people a real choice first.” David Cameron 1-7-12
