Its August, we must be in Pakistan

Scottish Labour MP Mohammed Sarwar said on Thursday he would travel to Pakistan to help search for a schoolgirl who has been missing from her home in the Western Isles for almost a week.

Mohammed Sarwar, The original Labour sleaze merchant, who actually got Tony Blair to state: " the party had set very high standards for itself and must take the "firmest action" if there was any wrongdoing"

Yes, the same Mohammed Sarwar, farther of charged money landering and "cash and carry king" Athif Sarwar.

So who added 'govan' to 'ment'

Place your bets

The independent body set up by Culture Secretary Mrs Mills (Tessa Jowell) to decide where Britain's first super-casino should be built is to hold its first public meeting today.

The Millennium Dome application has been surrounded by controversy in recent months after Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott was found to have stayed at the ranch of Dome owner Philip Anschutz.

Mr Prescott has repeatedly insisted that he has not been involved in the manipulation of the casino application process and that Philip Anschutz has received no preferential treatment, despite the fact, that he gave him freebe weekend break and a cowboy suit.

Ruth Kelly agrees with John Stonehouse

Ruth Kelly the Communities Secretary called today for a "new and honest debate" on the value of a multi-cultural society in Britain. (Full speech here.)

Hmmm, so what she is saying is, for the past 38 years THE DEBATE HAS NOT BEEN HONEST.

She said "In our attempt to avoid imposing a single British identity and culture, have we ended up with some communities living in isolation from each other with no common bonds between them?"

Well, bugger me, did not John Stonehouse (Labour MP) state this back in February 1968, six years before he left a pile of clothes on a Miami beach.

"The Sikh communities' campaign to maintain customs inappropriate in Britain is much to be regretted. Working in Britain, particularly in the public services, they should be prepared to accept the terms and conditions of their employment. To claim special communal rights (or should one say rites?) leads to a dangerous fragmentation within society. This communalism is a canker: whether practised by one colour or another it is to be strongly condemned".
(Stonehouse February 1968)

Basically, what she and the Labour government are saying is, Enoch was right

His Future is not Bright

Inigo Wilson, a Community Affairs Spokesman for Orange, has been suspended by the company for writing a jokey Lefty Lexicon piece on ConservativeHome blog. In it he defined Islamophobic as: “Anyone who objects to having their transport blown up on the way to work.” Palestinians as: “Archetype ‘victims’ no matter how many teenagers they murder in bars and fast food outlets. Never responsible for anything they do – or done in their name - because of ‘root causes’ or ‘legitimate grievances’.”

Police want 'instant justice' power

The Association of Chief Police Officers (APCO) is considering pressing ministers to dispense punishment without the need for a court appearance. Guardian

Knife crime would be tackled by enabling officers to stop and search based on "reasonable suspicion" from previous convictions. In the above scenarios, the sentences would effectively be passed on the streets with an appeal to courts later.

Oh yes, 'summery justice'

Love, a Sword

Cathy Jamieson, the North British justice minister will announce today, SWORDS will be banned from sale in Scotland. Scotsman

However, it is understood that exceptions will be made for weapons required for religious and cultural purposes.

Though veiled in spires of myrtle-wreath,
Love is a sword which cuts its sheath,
And through the clefts itself has made,
We spy the flashes of the blade!

But through the clefts itself has made,
We likewise see Love's flashing blade
By rust consumed, or snapt in twain:
And only hilt and stump remain.

Prezza on Heat

Prezza has cracked it, he has traded in the 'cowboy hat' for a 'green helmet' and florescent jacket. STAND-IN Premier John Prescott proved he was leading the terror-gripped nation yesterday - by writing to a newspaper about the heatwave.

With Tony Blair on hols and Britain facing its biggest security threat, the only sign of the Deputy PM was a letter published in the Daily Express. In it he ranted about "dangerous temperature levels over the summer", adding: "I am sure readers will agree it is sensible to have plans in place."
